Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is used to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an email message is sent from one e-mail address, but to look as being sent from another, often with the purpose to fraud the recipient in some way. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain, an exclusive record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers worldwide get it. The record includes all the email servers that are allowed to send authentic messages from an address within the domain. When a message is sent, the first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and when the sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the target destination. If, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the specified domain, the message won't be forwarded and it will be discarded. In the event that you use this service, it will prevent third parties from sending spam which appear to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

The SPF protection option is provided as standard with each cloud hosting plan that we offer and you will be able to use it with ease so that you can protect the email addresses for each domain hosted as part of your account. The service is managed from the Emails section of the advanced, albeit intuitive Hepsia Control Panel. What is needed to enable the protection is to type in the IP of the mail server and its hostname - mail.server.com, for example. Once the protection is active, only this server will be able to send out messages from email addresses created under the domain name that you have selected. Your e-mail addresses can be taken care of by some other provider, but when we manage them together with your site, you can enable the option for your messages to be sent only if the domain features our MX records. This selection will provide you with even better protection as exclusively our server will be permitted to send out e-mails from your mailboxes and you'll have improved control. When you have any questions or in case you have any difficulties with this particular service, you'll be able to contact our technical support crew at any time and they'll help you immediately.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll be able to secure your email addresses by activating the SPF protection service for every domain name in the account with just a couple of clicks. You can do this through the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel that is included with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you lack previous experience with such issues, you will not have any problems to activate the security. The only things that you'll need to do will be to select a domain name from a drop-down list and after that type in the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. Once the updated record propagates, messages from your emails will be mailed globally only if they were sent from that server. If your emails are taken care of by our company and not by a third-party provider, you'll also be able to benefit from an option for emails to be mailed only if the domain name has our MX records and the latter is the most secure option. Should you have any questions regarding thisfeature, you can get in touch with our technical support crew 24/7.
